In an era where environmental sustainability is at the forefront of global discussions, actively committing to lowering carbon emissions is now essential for companies across all sectors. Businesses play a pivotal role in achieving the target of carbon neutrality by 2050.<\/p>\n

What is Carbon Footprint and how is it calculated?<\/h3>\n

A carbon footprin<\/strong>t represents the total amount of greenhouse gases emitted by human activities, expressed in tons of CO\u2082 equivalent<\/strong>. This evaluation includes direct emissions, such as those from transportation and heating, as well as indirect emissions linked to energy production and the environmental impact of goods and services.<\/p>\n

Calculating a carbon footprint requires analyzing emissions from all greenhouse gases, using global parameters established by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change<\/strong> (IPCC<\/strong>). This process takes into account every stage of the value chain\u2014from raw material extraction to waste disposal\u2014through the Life Cycle Assessment<\/strong> (LCA<\/strong>) approach. It is designed to help companies, cities, and countries measure<\/strong>, manage<\/strong>, and report<\/strong> their greenhouse gas emissions. It provides cross-sectoral tables and emissions data for various industries, enabling reliable reporting of all six greenhouse gases recognized under the Kyoto Protocol.<\/p>\n

ISO 14064 Series<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ISO 14064<\/strong> standard provides a set of guidelines for quantifying<\/strong>, monitoring<\/strong>, reporting<\/strong>, and verifying<\/strong> greenhouse gas emissions. It forms the foundation for transparent and consistent emissions management, both at organizational and project levels, and promotes the adoption of sustainable practices in industry.<\/p>\n
