A small biodiversity outpost with a message for the future

News

Biodiversity isn’t just a trending hashtag – it’s the living fabric that sustains our very existence. And when we talk about bees, we’re talking about the tireless engineers of our ecosystem: responsible for over 70% of the pollination of the crops we eat every day.

That’s why at Iglom we decided to turn our commitment to sustainability into a concrete, measurable action: we have purchased 10 handcrafted wooden beehives, made by local artisans, personalized with the Iglom logo, and already populated by native swarms.

From ESG theory to practice

This project is part of the journey outlined in our first Sustainability Report, drawn up in compliance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the GRI/ESRS standards. “Sustainability means Future” is not just the title of a page on our website – it’s the compass guiding us towards the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

A haven for pollinators, a lab for people

The beehives have been placed in an unspoiled area of Lunigiana, a region naturally rich in wild blooms. But the true added value of this initiative is the active involvement of our employees: colleagues will be able to take part in beekeeping on a voluntary basis, learning traditional techniques and contributing personally to the health of the swarms.

This is how a real “biodiversity island” is born – where corporate welfare meets environmental stewardship.

Why bees?

  • Environmental impact: a single hive can pollinate up to 300 million flowers per day.
  • Local supply chain: purchasing hives and swarms from Lunigiana artisans supports the area’s circular economy.
  • Stakeholder engagement: the honey produced will be distributed internally to staff, as a symbol of the shared value we generate.

An invitation to our community

At a time when sustainability buzzwords risk becoming just background noise, we want to amplify the buzz that truly matters: the hum of the bees building our future.

Small actions for a big impact: let’s safeguard biodiversity today to make tomorrow a better place.
